Pvt. Wolcott, Company D, 52nd Ill. Infantry Regt., writes to his sister in Batavia, IL from Pittsburg Landing, TN. He describes the retreat from the Shiloh battlefield by his regiment, casualties suffered by his company and regiment and his capture of a rebel soldier.
